Amelia Lumber Sales, LLC was formed in 2000 from Amelia Lumber Company, Inc., founded in 1955 by L.O. Scott, Sr. From 1955 to 2000, Amelia Lumber Company handled all aspects of operations including timber procurement, manufacturing, drying, millwork, treating, sales and distribution of quality southern yellow pine lumber, both pressure treated and un-treated. The decision to divide Amelia Lumber Company's operations was a direct result of its founder and his two sons desire to insure that only the highest quality lumber products be manufactured and sold to their customers. To accomplish their goal, Amelia Lumber Sales, LLC was formed and took control over the pressure treating operations, lumber purchasing and sales/distribution. This allowed for closer attention to each area of its manufacturing operations. Three years later, the decision to divide the operations has proven to be beneficial to its owners - and more importantly to their highly valued customers. Both companies remain under the direct leadership of its founder L.O. Scott, Sr. and his two sons Lanny and William. Amelia Lumber has several other sister companies that permit us to provide reliable and consistant service to our valued and diverse customer base. These related companies and their primary roles are: Scott Wood, Inc. formed in 1946 operates a wood fired electric generation facility to provide economical and dependable power to the manufacturing facilities. Scott Pallets, Inc. formed in 1964 operates a pallet manufacturing facility, that also assists in the handling of small or special lumber orders. Scott Timberland Co., LP formed in 1975 owns and manages a sizable timberland base providing reliable and controllable raw materials for all areas of operation. Scott Transport Inc. formed in 1989 operates a fleet of long haul trucks providing reliable delivery to all our customers nationwide. Woodland Partners, LLC formed in 1999 purchases, manages and markets timberland primed for future residential development, which will provide capital for future timberland purchases to insure long term timber supply. Amelia Properties, LLC formed in 2002 owns and manages commercial and residential rental properties that provide an additional source of working capital for general operations. Amelia Lumber Company, Inc. now operates two pressure treating plants, both on the same site. The first plant built in 1970 continues to pressure treat southern yellow pine lumber with CCA (Chromium Copper Arsenate) for certain applications including industrial, commercial, and agricultural. The second plant was completed in October, 2003 and is specifically designed to treat lumber with DOT (Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate) and EnviroSafe Plus® which is used in a wide variety of both interior and exterior applications. Exterior uses include decking, fencing, house siding and trim, door and window framing, playground structures, patio/lawn furniture and many, many more. Interior applications include sill plate, floor joists, wall studs, base boards, header boards, trusses, wall and roof sheeting, sub-flooring, window or door frames, interior wall panels and more. The task of determining which, if any, of the new chemicals to switch to at first appeared to be impossible. After much research and evaluation, Amelia Lumber Company, Inc. made the long term decision to choose DOT Borates and EnviroSafe Plus® because we felt it best suited our customer's needs for the following reasons: • Protection against Wood-Destroying Insects. • Protection Against Decay Fungi (Rot). • Non-Combustible / Flame Retardant Properties. • Non-Corrosive to Nails, Fasteners and Connectors. • Lowered Weight (Up to 25% to 30% Less Than Other Types of Treated Wood). |
